Worship times a click away

Think about what the Web has done for religious travelers.
When I was at Temple Israel Center of White Plains on Sunday, scholar Michael Berenbaum complained a bit that Conservative Judaism does not have a central website that includes prayer times at all Conservative synagogues.
He noted that the Orthodox website GoDaven.com is a worldwide minyan database, making it as easy as possible for travelers to find a place to pray.
GoDaven.com even helps people start a new minyan (a prayer quorum of at least 10 people—or 10 men in most of the Orthodox world).
GoDaven.com is much like MassTimes.org, a website that helps Catholics find a Mass wherever they are.
Thanks to the Web, business travelers and others can schedule their worship as part of their itineraries before they even get on a plane…

The world of religion, we don't have to tell you, is vast. The purpose of this blog is for Stern to note, flag and comment on some of the more interesting religious developments on the scene – weighty and quirky, somber and laughable, far away and just down the road. He won't interpret Scripture, take sides in conflicts or judge anyone. But he will take advantage of the journalist's license to observe.
